Calculation of Enthalpy of Formation for Combustible Substances
Nadziakiewicz J.
(in English)
Abstract
The energy balance equation for chemical reactions need expressing all energy streams as total enthalpies – physical and chemical. There are several ways of expressing chemical enthalpies of substances, in most cases for combustible substances they are calorific values. But when the combustion process takes place simultaneously with other reaction the enthalpy of formation of substances should be applied. This enthalpy is easy to find for substances of known chemical composition but for non-uniform substances of complicated composition it is difficult to apply such parameter. In the paper the method of determining the enthalpy of formation basing on the fuel properties and ash composition is presented. Some examples for solid fuels (coal, wood) and for liquid and gas fuels are also presented.

Estimation of reburning potential of producer gas from sewage sludge gasification
Werle S.
(in Polish)
Abstract
Reburning potential of gas from sewage sludge gasification process have been defined. Numerical simulation of co-combustion process of gas from sewage sludge gasification in coal-fired boiler has been done. Influence of the reaction between reburning fuel and flue gases from coal combustion on reduction of NOx emission have been examined. Methane as a reburning fuel was also examined. The results show the relationship between the relative amounts of nitric oxide, temperature T, an air excess ratio λ and reaction time τ.

Quality analysis of the seepage from the municipal waste dumps during their exploitation
Czop M., Pieniążek K.
(in Polish)
Abstract
Waste dumps are long lasting sources of the pollution for the natural environment. One of the major problem related to the exploitation of the waste dump is seepage. Composition of waste dump seepage waters depends on many factors such as: type of the  wastes, age of the dump, degradation phase, compaction level of the wastes, exploitation process of the object. The article presents test results of the seepage which occurs during exploitation of municipal waste dumps located in the are of Silesian voivodship. Both dumps meet legal requirements and are considered as clean dumps.

Modelling of Combustion Process of Solid Waste in The Full Scale Incinerator
Jaworski T. J.
(in Polish)
Abstract
The aim of the project was mathematical modeling of combustion process of solid waste in the chamber of full scale incinerator. The problem was analyzed from two points of view: first - combustion of waste in the layer on the grate, and second – combustion of gas phase in the combustion chamber. The results of analysis of combustion and heat transfer processes in the waste layer are applied as boundary conditions for solving the CFD problem in the gas volume. The modeling was realized with the ANSYS 12.1 code with the assumption of homogeneous, multi-component and multi-reaction combustion process in the gas volume of the countercurrent waste incineration chamber. The results are shown as fields of concentrations of gas components, temperatures, velocities and densities in the analyzed gas volume. These results prove good correlation between both applied sub-models.

Utilisation of waste ion-exchange resins in coke batteries and its influence on coke quality and texture changes
Wasielewski R., Piechaczek M.
(in Polish)
Abstract
Results of research of waste ion-exchange resins with coal co-coking industrial tests in a coke battery operating in stamp charge system have been presented. Tests were carried out in industrial scale 150kg/charge (so-called “box tests”) with the addition of waste in charge from 1 to 3%. The influence of additive volume ion-exchange resins on the quality parameters of obtained coke has been investigated. Tests have been carried out for coking blend designed for “industrial coke” type production. The improvement in coke strength parameters in terms of indices M80 and M40 when the share of the ion resin up to the 3% has been observed. The results indicate that thermal recycling of waste resins are possible and an acceptable ion-exchange resins concentration in the charge should not exceed 3%.

E-waste – automatic and hand decomposition
Biegańska J., Szmigiel D.
(in Polish)
Abstract
Due to rapid development of market of electronic goods the quantity of electronic waste is rising as well. Nowadays it is not only the problem of developed countries but for those countriues it seems to be the most severe problem. The recovery of materials present is the good solution due to presence of valuable materials present in e-waste. The recovery would be better if the efficiency of wasted electronic devices is higher. This parameter is described in the paper – including hand made decomposition as well as automatic one of picture tubes.
